Kia ora Emma
Kia ora koutou e hoa mā, nau mai, haere mai, welcome to our special Te Wiki o te Reo Māori newsletter
Firstly, he panui (an announcement) - we are proud to be founding members of the just launched Te Reo Māori Business Network, Te Hononga Pakihi Reo Māori. This nationwide business network for companies that actively support te reo Māori, launched by Te Taura Whiri I te Reo Māori yesterday, will be "an online house of learning where ideas and best practice can be shared."
Zenaida writes in detail about For Purpose's ongoing commitment to this kaupapa, possibly providing food for thought for your own organisational journey. Enjoy the rest of our newsletter for links to a bunch of ways you can be involved this week, for updates on our work, what our friends are up to, and things our team are thinking about.

This is how we’re participating in the UN International Decade for Indigenous Languages
As an organisation that has begun the process of incorporating te reo māori into our practices, in this post we offer ways for other workplaces to engage with the language if it is new or unfamiliar.

Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori
Will you kōrero (speak), waiata (sing) or just whakarongo (listen) for Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori, the Māori Language Moment - this Thursday 14 September at 12pm? To do something big or small is to be part of the movement to normalise speaking te reo. At this exact moment in 1972 a small group of language champions presented Te Petihana reo Māori - The Māori Language Petition to parliament signed by 30,000 New Zealanders asking the government to teach Māori language in schools. Together in this moment we honour their journey and continue to work towards revitalising the language for future generations. We're super proud of the work we do with Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori, including this campaign where you can share with everyone what you are doing for Te Wa tuku Reo Māori. Let everyone know what you will do or look around for ideas and resources while you are there, download posters for the office, learn a waiata. https://www.reomaori.co.nz/

A classic now in audio book form
Saul Alinsky’s ‘Rules for Radicals’ has just been release as an audio book, for those that haven’t read the book and want an easy intro to his principles for running a movement for change. Kristin (For Purpose Founder and Director) is highly recommending as a guide for those wanting to unite people through organising to address power.
