As the dust settles on Election 2023 many people may be feeling discouraged and uncertain about what a change of government will bring.
Many of our collective values, and already marginalised communities, took a battering in the fight for bandwidth, donations, and votes. If we want to reverse this trend and to continue building a fairer, more just and sustainable world through advocacy and collective action its a good time for us to reflect, learn, and remind ourselves that action is the antidote to despair.
While this election may have seemed mired in negativity and divisiveness, many advocacy groups did a great job of campaigning with clear, positive messaging and a coordinated approach. In the spirit of reflection and progress, we thought it timely to have a look back and share what we think worked and what didn’t.
We hope you find something here to take forward in your mahi.

Our post election analysis
If any party slogan best captures the mood of this election it’s Labour’s "In it for You". However, this election campaign has also seen advocacy groups working together using positive and impactful messaging to inform and empower voters, build community, and create hope for the future. Check out which approaches we found most inspiring.
