Measuring with purpose: social impact measurement beyond reporting

A practical session on measuring outcomes for learning and improvement and understanding impact contribution for systems change, with Dr. Anabel Fernandez

When: 12-1pm, 27 June 2025
Where: online

About this event

Measuring impact in the real world is messy: budgets are tight, pressure is on, and the most meaningful change isn’t always easy to capture in a report. Part of the problem is that social impact measurement often feels like a buzzword experts use, or a box to tick for external reporting. But with the right systems, it becomes a powerful tool that aligns with your mahi. We will explore some strategies change-makers can use to measure with purpose.

What to expect

We’ll break impact measurement into two areas:

Measuring direct outcomes – Tracking shifts in attitudes, behaviours, and practices that are directly linked to your mahi helps you improve design,  and focus on what matters to the communities you support.

Understanding systems impact – Understanding how your mahi contributes to long-term change within the broader system in connection with the work of others, helps you keep an eye on the big picture, because real change never happens in isolation.

We will explore some tools and strategies we can use in each area and share experiences and challenges in this space. We’ll create space for brief small-group discussions and wrap up with a Q&A.
