Lunch & Learn: Digital campaigning

‘Five things we’ve learned about digital campaigning’ with For Purpose founder and director, Kristin Gillies and NZEI Te Riu Roa Online to Offline Organiser, Chennoah Walford.

Friday 19 July 12-1pm

For our first free Lunch and Learn session, join For Purpose Founder and Director, Kristin Gillies and NZEI Te Riu Roa Online to Offline Organiser, Chennoah Walford for a snack-sized lunchtime exploration of digital campaigning.

About this event

A lot of people have expressed an interest in learning more about digital campaigning, so for our first lunchtime session we’re sharing insights and inspiration from two campaign strategists. Kristin Gillies, founder and director of For Purpose, will be joined by Chennoah Walford, former Green Party Campaign Manager and now NZEI Te Riu Roa Online to Offline Organiser. Between the two of them they have a stack of experience in creating change on environmental and social issues through campaigning and movement building and they’ll be sharing some top tips and insights from their store of knowledge.

What to expect

With over two decades of experience working with advocacy groups, political parties, unions and NFPs, Kristin and Chennoah have learned a few things (certainly a lot more than five). So consider this session just a taster! Whether you’re a campaigning veteran or advocacy and movement building are new to you, there will be something for you in this session.

We want to use these lunchtime sessions to build community as well as learn, so we’ll create space to connect with others in small groups for brief discussion and reflection and we’ll finish the session with a Q & A.

About Kristin

Kristin began his journey with grassroots campaigning. He coordinated climate campaigns at Greenpeace, including a 6-week flotilla with Te Whānau-ā-Apanui to stop Petrobas’ offshore oil exploration and served as Campaign Manager for the Greens during the 2014 General Election and built up digital organising skills on top of years of campaign experience. For Purpose was founded to meet a growing need for digital campaigning support across the broader progressive movement. Read more about Kristin in our recent For Purpose blog post.
