10 December 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
On this day in 1948 the UN enshrined the inalienable rights of all human beings, calling for Freedom, Equality and Justice for All.
This significant day cannot be observed without drawing attention to the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Since Israeli forces first initiated retaliatory attacks against Hamas in Gaza on October 7:
- Over 17,177 Palestinians have been killed and 46,000 wounded
- Most of the 2.3 million inhabitants of Gaza have been rendered homeless.
- Residents of Gaza are trapped with little food, water, medical care, fuel or shelter.
- The UN reports that 97% of households in Northern Gaza have inadequate food consumption. Starving Gazans are digging in rubble for food and supplies.
- According to Unicef, 96% of Gaza’s water supply is unfit for human consumption.
Gaza’s humanitarian system is on the brink of collapse.
Join us in speaking out.
We urge the government to:
- Call for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire.
- Join the international humanitarian call for protection and aid for civilians and children.
- Take whatever diplomatic action is necessary to encourage Israel to halt attacks.
