Deliverables: Concept - Photography - Compilation
We worked with Accessibility Advocate and Paralympic swimming medallist Mary Fisher to create a photo library which encourages the public to notice access barriers in their everyday lives.
Over our time working with the disability community we'd struggled to find high-quality images of disabled people and the accessibility barriers they face that we could use. We also noticed inappropriate, cliched and stereotypical images being used by the media and other organisations.
We toured Wellington’s city centre with Mary and a friend in a powered wheelchair pausing to document both positive and problematic examples of accessibility in action. The photo library showcases these examples and provides a resource for anyone interested in making sure their buildings, products and services are accessible to all.
